I was over-the-moon excited to see her work again and I couldn't wait to get my hands on some of her designs.Īnd things just keep getting better.now Ashley is teaching a class at Studio Calico! And there are about a million of her designs for sale in the SC shop that go along with said class.and you can bet your bottom I've purchased every. We stamped our hearts out with the stamps she had displayed.and we told her over and over and over how awesome she was and how much we loved her style.ĬHA ended.a few months went by.and lo and behold, who do I see designing products for inclusion in a Studio Calico kit? You got it! Ashley G!!! Cruise your way through albums, die-cuts, and cut-outs to scrapbook your top travel destinations of years past. All aboard Show off your priceless memories of exotic world travels, fun family vacations, and weekend getaways with everything you find in this Vacation & Travel section.

And we all spent the next 30 minutes ooooh-ing and aaaaah-ing at Ashley and her art. Vacation and Travel Scrapbooking and Card Making. I was walking around checking out booths and laughing and chatting with my friends.and we came across Ashley's booth. I can not even begin to tell you just how excited I am for this class! SC has recently started adding screens (with which to make screenprints) to their kits. The current kits, The Underground, are some of the best SC has ever put together.and they are filled with products that make me want to drop everything and make stuff.

The kits, the digital items, the galleries, the members on the message boards.they all come together to make for one crazy inspiration-filled place to hang out. I am so inspired by the smells of spice & cinnamon, the crunching of leaves, the yellows & browns & oranges and the early onset of darkness (more time to create!).Īnd I'm ALWAYS inspired by Studio Calico. and all of the beautiful & brilliant colors of nature.Įven though the earth (in our hemisphere) is shutting down and preparing itself to hibernate, there is such amazing inspiration to be found at this time of year. comfort food and family dinners that don't need to be rushed. opening every window in the house and letting the cool breezes air out a home closed up and air-conditioned for most of the summer. I'm looking forward to exploring all of the possibilities this planner will offer - working in a new format, the ability to add pocket pages when needed, playing with adding things between pages. After months filled with swimming pools, crazy kids in and out of the house all day, hot days, humid evenings, and weeks filled with one thing or another I look forward to the fall. With one week done, I have to say that I'm really excited about the rest of the year! It took me about an hour from start to finish, and that included a lot of finding my groove time.

I added a little stamping (the word "snow" and the "for the record" and "this moment" circles) and a ticket.Īnd I couldn't resist digging into my washi stash to finish everything off! Just a little strip here and there adds a big impact to the finished week. Cards like this would also be a great place to add journaling!Īt this point, I just wanted to fill in more of the blank spaces. I felt like the snowy photo was getting lost on the white background, so I matted it with a Documeter card. ) I did end up using my typewriter on one of the sticky notes, just to mix things up. Maybe next week, I won't be so scared to do it. For some reason writing directly onto the page intimidates me, so things like stickies and journal lines help to ease me into the process. I wanted to add a little color, and the washi strips from the Arendal Planner kit were a perfect solution! I layered in a couple of the sticky notes from Canal Street as well, so that I had more spaces to journal. I knew I'd be more comfortable writing in the planner with them as a guide, and it helps to connect my words with the photos they match. Next, I added some stamped journaling lines. These transparent squares from Canal Street add a nice punch of color, and as a bonus, you can still see the days / dates printed underneath them. With those in place, I looked through my Arendal kits for items that would work well in a planner. I tried not to cover up all of the days / dates printed on the planner sheets, but didn't worry too much about it. I started by printing out my photos for the week, and placing them near the days where they were shot.

Rather than get stuck there, I pushed myself to just play and see what happened, and to enjoy the process. but had a little bit of a "how the heck do I DO this?!" moment. Once the decision was made, the next step was to actually get started. I recently picked up a Hello Forever planner, and rather than using it to plan out my weeks, I'll be using it to document them. As my kids get older, I find myself struggling to fill a pocket album, but still wanted (and needed!) a place to collect the keepsakes, kid quotes and everyday memories that don't warrant an entire scrapbook layout. Hello everyone! After a lot of thought and indecision, I recently settled on a method for my 2016 memory keeping.
